01Vision

The Vision

Rooted in India, inspired by the world.

Jamnagar by Ektaba Sodha was founded on a simple belief that creativity is not defined by geography. Exceptional craftsmanship can emerge from small towns, remote villages, and artisans whose knowledge has been passed down for generations.

We believe every tradition carries a story worth preserving. True craftsmanship deserves the opportunity to grow, evolve, and be appreciated without losing the identity that makes it unique.

Our purpose is to help Indian craft evolve with confidence, preserving its authenticity while creating space for it in today's global design conversation.

We see design as a bridge between heritage and the future where timeless skills continue to inspire contemporary expression.

02Our Roots

Where Heritage Meets Contemporary Design.

India's textiles, jewellery, and craft traditions carry centuries of cultural memory. Every technique reflects the patience, skill, and wisdom of generations who have kept these traditions alive.

We believe preserving craft means more than repeating the past. It means allowing traditions to remain relevant while respecting their original character and cultural significance.

By working closely with artisans, we support contemporary design, stronger creative identity, and meaningful access to wider markets.

Our approach is not to change the essence of Indian craft, but to help it speak confidently in a modern world.

03Founder

Craft deserves recognition, not reinvention.
Tradition becomes timeless when craftsmanship is given the opportunity to evolve.

By Ektaba Sodha

A childhood dream became a lifelong purpose.

Fashion was Ektaba Sodha's first dream. In 2002, she wanted to study it, but at the time it was seen as an uncertain career. She chose a different academic path, yet the dream never disappeared.

In 2005, she moved to England to study education, completing her master's degree and later pursuing doctoral research. Between 2005 and 2011, she travelled widely and spoke at institutions including the UBS Optimus Foundation, BRAC and the Indian School of Business.

Every journey shaped another part of her story. After work, she explored fashion, jewellery and design across different countries, observing how craftsmanship could become a powerful cultural identity.

Returning to India in 2011 changed her direction. Through her foundation work, which formally took shape in 2022, she began working closely with artisans across villages. She found extraordinary skills passed down through generations, but limited access to design guidance, branding and global markets.

That realisation became the foundation of Jamnagar by Ektaba Sodha.

Growing up in Jamnagar gave her a lasting connection to Bandhani, Indian jewellery and Gujarat's rich heritage. Today, her vision is to create an evolving creative ecosystem where artisans, designers and traditional crafts can grow with confidence while staying true to their roots.

04Responsibility

Every Craft Has a Future.

Rooted in the social commitment of the Halar Welfare Trust, our journey takes us from village to village in search of remarkable skills and endangered techniques.

We work closely with artisans, understanding their processes, learning from their traditions, and creating opportunities that honour both their craft and their communities.

We believe recognition should extend beyond the finished product to the hands that create it. Every artisan deserves visibility, respect, and the opportunity to grow as a creative voice.

Our vision is simple to ensure traditional craftsmanship continues to thrive while creating lasting opportunities for future generations.
